| Announcements: |
At the July Meeting of the Orleans County Genealogical Society it was unanimously voted to try to sell the freight house. For information on this sale interested parties should phone the number posted on the building. We are not offering any brokerage fee.
With the economy in the state it is in, our efforts to restore the building will be very slowly accomplished. It is the feeling of the local members that this building may be better used by area farmers/business men who need the local storage to help offset their hauling expenses with the rising (and ridiculous) price of fuel.
We hope this is the right time to obtain a quick sale. If that does not happen we will ride out this period and proceed with fundraising when the economy can sustain that.
For now, our own group would be better served with a sale of that parcel.
Our primary efforts remain strong in the work of researching, compiling, archiving, and sharing the genealogies and stories of the people of the area and their ancestors and descendants. Our work in preserving and reenacting the story of the orphan train riders remains in high demand, and all of that continues right on schedule.
Thank you all for your continued support and hard work- exactly what has made this society so successful!

A friendly reminder!
Annual Membership Dues are payable in October. Please check with the Membership Secretary Mike Ricci if you are not certain if you are paid to date. Thank you for your continued support. OCGS offers many programs and archives a growing collection of manuscripts, and more! None of this would be possible without the Membership dues income. Know that your officers, fellow members, and the public that we serve appreciate your contribution. |
